Home-School Communication Parents Solutions

At Edufaith Consulting, we model clearer home–school conversations so teams move from confusion to child-centered solutions. Below is a short meeting agenda and suggested language you can adapt:

Agenda (15–20 minutes)

1. Welcome & purpose (2 min): “We’re here to focus on [student]’s strengths and most pressing needs.”

2. Strengths snapshot (3 min): “What I’ve seen [student] do well is…”

3. Priority concern (4 min): “The main challenge right now is…; here’s how it shows up.”

4. Evidence & legal context (4 min): “Based on observations, work samples, and relevant entitlements under IDEA/504, we believe…”

5. Action & timeline (4–5 min): “Agreed next steps are…, responsible party…, and a review date of…”

Suggested language starters

• For parents: “I want to share what I notice at home and ask how we can build on it at school.”

• For educators: “Here’s what I’m seeing in class and a proposed adjustment to try for four weeks.”

• When citing entitlements: “To ensure we meet legal requirements and the student’s needs, I’m requesting we consider…”

• To keep focus on the child: “How will this change improve [student]’s access, participation, or progress?”

Why this works: a shared agenda reduces misunderstandings, centers the student, and creates faster, accountable solutions. As a parent and educator, Dr. Nakia brings both lived experience and professional expertise to guide collaborative, respectful meetings.
